William Clarence Kiernan, 82 of Marengo passed away on Saturday September 3, 2022 at home
following a brief illness. William was born May 30, 1940 in Lancaster, OH to the late Carl E. and Mary E.
(Brown) Kiernan. He was married September 3, 1988 to Rebecca (Silveous) Kiernan who
survives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son Jay Kiernan, grandson Justin
Kiernan, and an older sister Sandy (Kiernan) Devore.
William is also survived by daughter Cheryl (Kiernan) Carle of Moreno Valley, CA.; step daughter Marie
B. Moran of Marion, Ohio; grandchildren Dakota, Kimberly, Christopher, Eric and Nathan of California;
Nicholas, Jessica, Kenny, and Autumn, husband Tyler) of Marion, Ohio; great grandchildren; Corbyn,
Gavyn, Riley, Elle, and Jenna; brother Carl Kiernan of Las Vegas NV.; sister Sharon Maggard of
Delaware, OH; half-sisters Donna Mattox and Barbara Maggard of Delaware, OH., and half-brother
Richard Kiernan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
William rode the rodeo circuit in California back in his younger days. He was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran
where he received the Rifle Marksman Badge not once but twice. He and Bec enjoyed backpacking,
camping, kayaking, and biking the rail-trails throughout Ohio on their recumbent trikes over the years.
William especially enjoyed watching his wife performing with her guitar and singing, working outdoors
cutting trees and mowing, watching O.S.U. Football and Grit on T.V., and playing ladder ball. He was
most recently working at Luvata in Delaware as a parts polisher.
The family will be holding a wake for family and friends to celebrate Bill's life. Affordable Cremation Services of Ohio is
