Willard Eugene Mermann, Known as “Butch” and “PawPaw Butch” - dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend - passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 13th, 2023.
Butch arrived in this world on March 30, 1952. Butch’s childhood photos prove that he was once little, cute and smiley- Far from the big intimidating biker, gun owning, no BS guy he grew into.
Anyone that knew Butch, knew his looks can be deceiving as he was simply a big hearted, gentle and soft spoken guy. A guy we all loved and will miss so much.
Butch was a River Valley High School graduate in 1970, but honestly he would say he could care less adding that detail to this obituary. After graduating, he married Peggy Lee (Shuster) in 1971. Together, Butch and Peggy soon welcomed a daughter, Danielle. The family of three became a family of four when without hesitation, they became legal guardians and forever parents to a second daughter, Mindy.
Through the years, Butch enjoyed Harley Davidsons, guns, hunting, camping, his beloved Doberman dogs and classic cars. A biker and previous bike club member-Butch and his club would raise money for various fundraisers and gather to ride. He had some good times attending Easy Rider Rodeo Events, bike shows and poker runs. Butch was the owner of a 1976 Sportster, 1973 ElectraGlide and a large collection of Harley T-shirts from various destinations. Known as a true patriot of the 2nd Amendment and avid gun owner- He was PROGun, PROGod, and PROud American through and through. Butch appreciated classic cars, in which he owned and showed in car shows-from the Classy 70’s Caddy to his 90’s Vette.
At the top of Butch’s list of favorites was Mitchel, Nathan, Olivia, Harper and Faye. These kiddos held a very special place in grandpa’s heart. He never missed an opportunity to hug and tell them he loved them.
Butch is survived by his wife of 52 years, Peggy; two daughters Danielle(Bobby)Edwards and Mindy(Michael)Byrd; three grandchildren Mitchel(Amber)Hoffman,
Nathan(Tory)Hoffman and Olivia Grace “YaYa”(as Grandpa Butch would call her) Seiter; two great grandgirls Harper Mae and Faye JoLynn. Also survived by three sisters; Diane Lemasters, Pauline(Dennis)Bilger and Lori Mermann. He is preceded in death by brother David Herrod and a long time, forever remembered friend Bob”Fluffy”Huffman.
