Wendell (Dell) Paul Reed died on November 24th at Marion General Hospital. “Delly Dell” or “Grandell” as he was lovingly called by those closest to him, will be deeply missed. He was loved by all those who knew him. He had a way of making people laugh and bringing a smile to the face of everyone around him. He was known for his sense of humor, his love of life and his deep love of people; his family most of all.
Dell was born in Georgetown South Carolina, a place that was always near and dear to his heart. He loved being near the ocean, it was a place that brought him great joy. Dell spent 4 years in the United States Navy where he joined the ranks as Sea Bee, which only deepened his love of the Ocean. In addition to the ocean and his hometown, Dell had many other interests. Dell had a great passion for photography. He had a way with the photographic lens that would catch the attention of all those who saw it. Dell always had a camera in his hands. He loved taking photographs of his family, wildlife and the moon and stars. Dell loved music; he was always singing. He would take videos of himself singing, he had a beautiful voice. Dell was also a diehard football fan, he could always be found rooting for his favorite team: The South Carolina Game Cocks.
Dell was proceeded in death by his parents Nell (Thomas) Reed and Carl Reed, and his grandson James Auxier. He leaves behind his Wife, Wanda (Endicott) Reed, and his two daughters: Melissa (Raymond) Menefee and Donna (Allen Small) Marlow and 4 step children: Lora (Charles) Bassett, Jennifer (Pat) Cline, George (Georgette) Auxier and John (Ruby) Auxier. One of Dell’s greatest joys was his grandchildren: Travis, Claire, Kaleigh, McKenzie, Kaleb, Kya, Tyler, Lily, Nicki, Tiffany, John, Sam, Jennifer Jayne, Trever, Maria, John David, Suzanne, and Jarred. Great Grandchildren: Ellie, Camilyn, Caleb, Cade, Jayden, Kyle, Johnny, Thackery and Alexis. Dell had 4 siblings. Cathy Reed, Cheryl Johnson, Karen (Carlos) Casas, and Kevin (Liz) Reed. He was also loved by his nieces and nephews: Matthew (Caroline) Holland, Katie Johnson and Emily Reed. Dell also leaves behind his beloved dog Sugar, who remained a constant companion over the last 13 years.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday December 5, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the Enterprise Baptist Church in Marion Ohio. Del was a greatly loved individual who impacted the lives of many in the community. Please come and celebrate the life of this amazing man as we saw goodbye.
