Timothy Dion “Monk” Shoffner, 66 of Mount Victory, passed away at 11:15 a.m. on
Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Marion General hospital, following a short battle
with cancer with his loving wife of 42 years was by his side.
He was born in Kenton, Ohio on February 26, 1958, to the late Thomas and Alice (Culp)
Shoffner.
He married the love of his life, Alene (May) Shoffner of Mount Victory on February 26,
1983. Including his wife, he is survived by his four children; Angela (Colin) Boyd of
Prospect, Adam (Dawn) Shoffner of Quincy, Rik Shoffner of Ada and Vanessa Shoffner
of Mount Victory. His seven grandchildren: Raven Shoffner, Taylor Shoffner, Ashton
Shoffner, Brayden Boyd, Skylar Shoffner, Ava Boyd, and Quentin Shoffner. His two
great-grandchildren; Briggs and Raelynn Shoffner. His sister Kate Newman of Kenton,
brother Charles (Ruth) Shoffner of Ridgeway and sister-in-law Dixie Shoffner of
Bellefontaine and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Tim was predeceased by
his parents and siblings. Sisters Lorretta Richardson, Sally Harold, Mary Wolf, Barbara
Chance, Joan Manns, his brother Robert Shoffner and mother-in-Law, Barbara Snyder.

Tim grew up in Ridgeway, Ohio and attended Ridgemont Schools where he graduated
in 1977. Tim was a fan of the Ridgemont Golden Gophers where he played football
from youth to high school. Tim was part of the original Little Gopher youth football team
that started in the late 1960’s. Tim was a gifted athlete in high school, setting school
records in track and field. Tim loved to reminisce and tell stories of his athletic feats.
Tim’s friends gave him the nickname “Monk” in school.
For 30 years, Tim was the owner and operator of Shoffner’s Logging and Trucking,
working closely with his son’s Adam and Rik. Tim was a loyal fan to the Ohio State
Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns. He loved classic cars and 70’s rock and roll music,
the Steve Miller Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd being Tim’s favorites. Tim cherished his
family and loved them deeply, especially his grandchildren.

It was Tim's wish to be cremated. Please join the family for a Celebration of Life on
January 5, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mount Victory Sportsmen’s Club, to celebrate Tim.
Friends and family are welcome to wear Cleveland Browns or Ohio State Buckeye
apparel. Memories of Tim will be shared while enjoying the last Browns game of the
season.
