Shirley Ann Hoffman

March 15, 1939 — February 15, 2025

Mt. Gilead

Shirley Ann (Wise) Hoffman, 85, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025, in Mt. Gilead, Ohio. She was born March 15, 1939, in Galion, Ohio.

Shirley dedicated much of her life to caring for others through her work at Morrow County Hospital’s OB floor. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her career into every aspect of her life. A devoted Christian, she was an active member of the Mt. Gilead Church of Christ, where she found great joy in attending church events, participating in game nights, and sharing her love for arts and crafts with those around her. She especially cherished teaching children about the Lord and guiding them in their faith.

Outside of church, Shirley was a passionate volunteer at the Morrow County Fair and took great pride in contributing to her community. She had a remarkable talent for sewing and baking, creating beautiful handmade pieces and delicious treats that brought joy to many. She also loved planting flowers and watching birds from her home, finding peace in nature’s beauty.

Family was at the heart of Shirley’s life. She treasured time spent with loved ones at Sunday dinners, cookouts, and holiday gatherings. When life became challenging, she found comfort sitting by her back door, sunbathing with Fluffy while watching children play in her backyard, a simple joy that brought her immense happiness. Her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met; so much so that many affectionately called her "Grandma," regardless of relation.

Shirley is survived by her children Duane (Laurie) Hoffman, Gary (Danette) Hoffman and Randy (Teresa) Hoffman; as well as her 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren who brought endless joy to her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Hoffman, whom she married on October 12, 1958, as well as their son Gary Hoffman, who passed away on December 24, 2022.

Shirley’s legacy is one of faith, love, and generosity. Her unwavering kindness touched countless lives, leaving behind cherished memories that will be treasured forever. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
