Ruby G. Jones

Ruby Jones, 85, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 27, 2020. She was born February 6, 1935, in Ontario, Ohio, to the late Ernest Lacey and Helen Grace Fox. She graduated from Ontario High School in 1953 as the class valedictorian.
Ruby was a strong, independent woman. She went to work in 1972 for the then First National Bank in the Trust Department, where overtime, she rose to be the department manager. She retired from Key Bank in 1990 and began working for her brother Homer’s family business, Fox Plumbing, located in Galion, OH. After her second retirement from Fox Plumbing, Ruby enjoyed traveling with her sister-in-law to Florida, outlet shopping, listening to country music, especially The Statler Brothers, and spending time with family.
She will be remembered for her deep love and commitment to family. Ruby demonstrated her love through hours of baking and cooking for others. Some of her famous family recipes included Cherry Nut Bars, Wheat Germ, and Butter Cookie cutouts, and the famous Sandwich Spread made still today by her children and grandchildren.
From her childhood to her passing, Ruby loved front porches. She spent countless hours watching birds, gazing at beautiful flowers, and speaking with neighbors. Her children have fond memories of Ruby’s childhood home’s front porch in Ontario.
She is survived by her four children; Sabrina Chapman of Mansfield, OH; Robert Jones and wife Jeannie of Maineville, OH; Randy Jones and wife Pam of Mt. Gilead, OH; Stephanie White and husband Craig of Fairfax, VA; along with eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law; Jeanette Fox, Galion, OH, and Judy Monroe Ritter, Mansfield, OH, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruby is preceded in death by her four siblings, Lucille Stewart, Galion, OH; Charles Fox, Shelby, OH; Robert Fox, Ontario, OH, and Homer Fox, Galion, OH.
Burial will be at Ontario Cemetery, January 9, 2021, with a brief graveside service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Avita Home Health and Hospice, P.O. Box 327, Galion, OH 44833.
