Rubin Gowin

Rubin "Ray" Gowin was born on July 24, 1949 and passed away on December 28th, 2023. A wonderful brother, husband, stepfather, grandfather and great grandfather. In 1989 Ray married the love of his life whom he met in the church choir, Dianne Duncan. She preceedes him in death just 3 months prior. Former member of the PGA, Ray, with Dianne, went on to operate multiple golf courses, most notably Windy Acres in New Bloomington. He also drove bus for a number of years for Elgin Local Schools. He loved his family, and was called "Punky" by his grandkids. He would do anything for them and was a softie for them! Surviving him is his siblings (enter names here), his 2 step-sons, Steven (Enola) Jones and Paul (Laura) Jones. His 3 grand daughters, Tereasa (Brian) Schrote, Amanda Jones, and Lydia Fortman-Jones. Also surviving are his 2 great grandsons, Justin and Elijah Schrote. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all at Marion General Hospital who helped Ray in his final days, God bless you all. He stood a head above the rest. GO CATS.
