Robert E. King, (lovingly known as Bobby to his family and professionally as Bob) age 69, of Marion, Ohio, entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior on January 3, 2025, surrounded by the love of his children and grandchildren.
Born on May 25, 1955, in Jamestown, Ohio, Bob was the eldest of five children to the late Bobbie Jo King and Letha Nell Ball King. A proud graduate of Marion Harding High School’s Class of 1973, Bob carried with him the values and connections of his beloved Marion Harding throughout his life.
Bob’s life changed forever in August 1973, when he met Connie Indoe while working at Woolworth’s in Marion. What began as a chance meeting blossomed into a love story for the ages, with Connie’s mother, Sally, orchestrating their first date. On September 12, 1976, Bob and Connie were married at Epworth United Methodist Church, beginning 40 years of unwavering love and devotion. Bob’s greatest joy was caring for Connie, a role he fulfilled with boundless love until her passing on March 11, 2017.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Bob found his professional calling in the carpet business, first at Carpet Talk, then Rick’s Floor Covering and later as the founder of Karpet King Inc. Before owning Karpet King, Bob took a part time “fun job” working at The Toggery.
He took great pride in helping the men of Marion look their best during his time at The Toggery. Fondly known as “Tuxedo Bob,” he made every occasion special—whether it was a young man’s first prom, a groom’s wedding day, or someone starting a new job. He was dedicated to ensuring they not only looked their best, but felt confident too.
Later in life, Bob applied his natural charisma and salesmanship at Mathews Ford, where he thrived until retiring in 2016 to care for Connie.
From a young age, Bob discovered a lifelong passion for golf, a game passed down to him by his father and one he joyfully shared with his son, Ryan. Bob’s fondest memory was a day on the course with his father and son, where all three generations shot under par, embodying their shared competitive spirit and love for the game.
Bob’s life was built on a foundation of faith and service. A devoted member of Epworth United Methodist Church, he served as a sound technician for over two decades and contributed to various church boards and committees. Yet his greatest mission was ensuring his children and grandchildren grew up with a deep love for the Lord.
Known as “B-Paw” to his beloved grandchildren, Bob cherished his role as a father and grandfather. When reflecting on his life, Bob once said, “Everything in my life led to Connie. From the moment I saw her in a red plaid jumpsuit, I knew she was my wife. My purpose was to marry her, raise Sara and Ryan, and ensure my family knew the Lord.”
Bob’s legacy of love and faith lives on in his children, Sara Williams and Ryan (Chelsie) King, and his grandchildren, Cameron and Cassidy Williams and Zanovia King. He is also survived by his sister Tammy (Stan) Mays, step-brother Kevin (Tania) Foulk and, brother-in-law, Richard Moore.
Bob is reunited in heaven with his wife Connie, parents, stepmother Peggy King, siblings Max, David, and Jody King, in-laws Richard & Sally Indoe and sister-in-law Carol Moore.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at Epworth United Methodist Church in Marion, Ohio on January 20th 2025. Visitation will take place from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a service at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to OnePlusGod Ministries honoring Bob’s lifelong commitment to faith and service. You can donate on their website www.oneplusgod.org (click on donate) or checks can be made payable to One Plus God with “Bob King” in the memo.
Bob’s kindness, love, and unwavering faith left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory and example will live on forever in the hearts of those he touched.
