Richard M. Gandee Sr., 83 of Marion passed away on Monday October 21, 2019 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, his death was unexpected. Richard was born April 28, 1936 in Harmony, West Virginia to the late Denny Darius and Laurentine (Harpold) Gandee. He was married December 31, 1956 to Kathryn (Troesch) Gandee who survives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 12 siblings.
Richard is also survived by children Cheryl Daily of Marion, Diana (Henry) Johnson of Minford, OH, Roger D. (Amy/Owens) Gandee of Lakeview, OH, Christina (Bill) Houston of Harpster, Richard M. Gandee Jr. of Marion, Kimberly Gandee of Marion, Melissa (Ron) Bachelder of Marion, and Michelle (Chad) Meenach of Logan, OH; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and one sister Ruth Rose of Bridgeton, NJ; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Richard retired from Marion Industrial Center as a fork lift operator and did part time work as a security guard for the same company, retiring just a year ago. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and enjoyed golfing at Green Acres Golf Course where he was a member for several years, playing cards, playing Wii Golf, and watching westerns, especially John Wayne.
Richard was a devoted and loving family man, a loving husband of almost 63 years to the love of his life. Always joking and loved to make people laugh. He was a wonderful father and grandpa and will be dearly missed.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 pm in the Enterprise Baptist Church with Rev. Jim McIntire officiating.
