Michael Varner, age 78, passed away at home with his wife by his side on July 14th, 2022, following a long battle with cancer.
Michael was born on March 20th, 1944 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Guy O. and Ruth W ( Cramer) Varner. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter Melba Jean, and his sisters Phyllis Moore, Gaye Rasey, Jean Daso, & Sheila Minor.
Michael was united in marriage September 10th,1966 to Linda Brewer, who survives. He is also survived by his children: Michelle ( Steve) Beltz, Jonathan (Tabatha) Varner; grandchildren: Camryn, Cadence , Cassy (Chuck), Katy (Roger), and Cordell; great grandchildren: Damien , Lily, Melody, Luke, Daisy , and Jayden: Sisters Becky Varner, and Sharon King; and many nieces and nephews.
Michael was a 1964 Harding High School graduate. Michael served proudly in the US Navy for 4 years on the aircraft carrier Franklin D Roosevelt.
Michael was employed at Clark Metal Tool & Die company of Marion for almost 40 years. At which time, Michael followed a dream and attended Columbus State University and earned an associate degree in culinary arts. He pursued his career path in the world of food until he retired.
He enjoyed the fellowship of the St. John's Evangelical Church in Kenton for many years.
Service will be at St John's Evangelical Church, Thursday July 21st, 2022, with calling hours at 3pm followed by the memorial service, starting at 4pm with Rev. Randall Forester officiating. Immediately after the memorial service refreshments will be served until approx. 6:00pm.
