Melvin L. Thomas, 80, of Marion went to be with the Lord at his home on Sunday August 21, 2022. Melvin was born January 19, 1942 in Huntington, West Virginia to the late Mike and Kate (Howard) Thomas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by lifelong companion Louise Blevins, sister and brother in law Edith (Nick) Lily, daughter and son in law Linda (Terry) Huggins, son in law Richard Lanthron, sons Gene Blevins, Denny Blevins, Troy Blevins, and James Blevins, grandson Zachary Lanthron, and great grandsons Xzaviure and Lawson Brown.
Melvin is survived by daughters Kathy (Larry) Brown, Kay (Pastor James) McIntire, and Connie Lanthron; sons Donnie Blevins, Robert (Connie) Blevins, Clinton (Berta) Blevins; two daughter in laws Peggy Blevins and Shiela Beck; sister in law Jessie Terry; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
Melvin attended Marion Enterprise Baptist Church and had a deep love for the Lord. He enjoyed any type of outdoor activity, and always looked forward to working in his yearly garden. Melvin will be truly missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends at Marion Enterprise Baptist Church, 130 Orton St., Marion on Thursday August 25 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Friday August 26, at 10:00 am in the Church with Pastor James McIntire and Rev. Marvin Tiller officiating, burial will follow in Grand Prairie Cemetery. Affordable Cremation and Funeral Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
