Mary Alice (Henderson) Napier, 63, passed away on February 26, 2025, in Marion, Ohio. Born on December 16, 1961, in Topeka, Kansas, to the late Norman E. Henderson and Alice L. (Burns) Henderson, she lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to her family and passions.
Mary graduated from Columbus East High School in 1980. She went on to build a career as a Sous Chef at Ohio Wesleyan University, where she worked loyally for over 20 years. She truly enjoyed building connections with the students that came through her kitchen over the years. Her coworkers remember her fondly, always able to count on her for a good laugh, honest conversation and a good vent session. Cooking was not just her profession but also one of her greatest joys. Whether preparing meals for loved ones or sharing her culinary talents with others, she found immense happiness in the kitchen.
Beyond her love for cooking, Mary enjoyed listening to music, relaxing with a drink in hand, and embracing life’s moments with enthusiasm. She was known for her caring nature, feisty spirit, and unwavering loyalty to those she held dear. Above all else, she cherished time spent with her great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy. Her dog, Jake with State Farm, brought her peace and she enjoyed snuggling with him in their spot.
Mary is survived by her devoted husband, Russell Napier; her children: Jennifer (John Lower) Napier, Samantha (Lucas) Askins, and Christopher (Lulu Zavala) Napier; her grandchildren: Shayla (David Sunday) Kistler, Donovan Britton Jr., and London Askins; and her great-grandchildren: Wallace Kallies, Zaria Howard, and Anastasia Sunday. She also leaves behind her siblings: David (Charlotte) Henderson, Norman Henderson Jr., Sondra (John) Ulrey, Norma (Bill) Gelifus, Lisa (Jess) Aull, Donna Henderson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman E. Henderson and Alice L. (Burns) Henderson; her sister Luanne Henderson; her brother Loren Ray Hendershot; and her sister Jackie Napier.
