Mark R Sands Jr.

Mark Richard Sands Jr. of Waldo, OH passed away peacefully on July 30, 2024. Mark was born October 1, 1956, to the late Mark Sands Sr. and Delores Sands-Miley.

He attended River Valley Schools before entering the Army to serve his country. Based in Germany for much of his time, he excelled in mechanics earning him the opportunity to be a general’s driver. Returning home he worked several jobs before settling in and retiring from International Paper in Delaware.

Mark was a talker and enjoyed sitting with a cold beer and engaging in conversation. He was a member of the Waldo American Legion. He found joy after retirement in keeping his lawn mowed and watching old western TV shows.

Mark is survived by his daughter Kimberly Young and her mother Pam, sisters: Yvonne (Ron) Emerson and Diane (Jeff) Sands-Isler, brothers: Tony (Alice) Sands and John Sands, sister-in-law Suzie Sands-West, stepmother Mozelle Sands, canine companion GeeGee, and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, long time partner Becky Horne, brother Mike Sands, sister Darla Sands, and stepfather Ralph Miley.

Affordable Cremation Services of Ohio was honored to serve Mark’s family. A private burial will be held at a later date in Waldo Cemetery.
