Louise Blevins, 86, of Marion went to be with the Lord at her home on Monday January 30, 2017. Louise was born Oct. 14, 1930 in Beckley, WV to the late Orville and Birdie (Petrey) Akers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Eli Blevins; sons Gene, Denny, and Troy Blevins; daughter Linda Huggins; brothers William, Carl, Nathan, and Clyde Akers; sisters Lou Grubb, Betty Grubb, Bertha Keeton, Marie White; and grandson and family hero Zachary Lanthron.
Louise is survived by special friend Melvin Thomas; children James C. (Peggy) Blevins, Robert L. (Connie) Blevins, Clinton (Berta) Blevins, Kathy (Larry) Brown, Kay (Rev. Jim) McIntire, Connie (Richard) Lanthron, and Donnie Blevins all of the Marion area; 25 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 24 great great grandchildren; brother Larry Akers; sisters Jessie (John) Terry and Charlotte Spangler; as well as son in law Terry Huggins.
Louise lived most of her life in Marion. She loved the Bible and a woman of faith, Louise will always be remembered by her precious words, “God’s always there when no one else is and He makes a way for us when there ain’t one”. She also enjoyed cooking and was famous for her eggs. She will be sadly missed by her family.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 10:00 am in the Marion Enterprise Baptist Church, 130 Orton St. with Rev. Corey Carroll officiating and Rev. Jim McIntire assisting, burial will follow in Grand Prairie Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Church on Thursday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The family suggests memorials be made to the church and expressions of sympathy can be left at cremationservicesofohio.com. The Pirnstill Funeral Service, 1701 Marion Williamsport Rd. is assisting the family with arrangements.
