Lauretta Pearl Kearns

Lauretta Pearl (McKee) Kearns, 74 years old, went home to be with the Lord on
Saturday, August 12, 2023. She was born October 25, 1948 to the late Mary Josephine
(Johnson) and William L McKee. Lauretta was preceded in death by her parents and sister
Linda Kay McKee.
She is survived by her two sisters, Dottie McGinty of Marion and Mary (Robert) Dorfe of
Zanesville along with two children John (Kelly) L Kearns Sr of Marion and Lisa (Marty Roberts)
R (Kearns) McEldowney of Caledonia, grandchildren John (Chelsey) L Kearns Jr, Noah
McEldowney, and Macie Kearns. She is also survived by three great grandchildren, Gracelynn,
Raelynn and Ariella, along with many nieces and great nieces and nephews.
Lauretta was a 1968 graduate of Ridgedale High School and long time member of Lee St Presbyterian Church. As a member she taught Sunday school and was a youth teacher working with youth in fifth grade through high school. She also taught Catechism classes. Lauretta sang in the Church choir and was a
Deacon for six years. She was involved as a den mother for Cubs Scouts of America Pack 22
and helped teach children at Meeker School learn to read on reading machines, and her
daughter was one of the students.
Lauretta was ill with lots of illnesses that affected her life by the time she was 60. She
always kept the faith even though she couldn’t attend church as often as she wanted. She
always said “ The most important thing is to PRAY!”
Services will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023 at the Lee St Presbyterian Church.
Family will greet family and friends 9-11 am with service beginning at 11am with lunch to follow
at the Meeker Community Center located at 6400 Harding Hwy W, Marion Oh. Please wear red
in honor of Lauretta as it was her favorite color.
