Kenneth Culwell

Kenneth Culwell, a dedicated laborer who retired from International Paper, peacefully passed away at his residence by his loving family on August 9, 2024. He was born in Mazie, KY on October 15, 1946.


Kenneth, known for his strong work ethic, his career as a crossing guard watchman for Conrail Railroad after his service in the Army. He later contributed his talents to the Smith Clinic project work. His commitment and hard work were evident throughout his professional life.


A proud Army Veteran, Kenneth was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Medal for his honorable service to his country. His dedication and service were emblematic of his character both on and off the battlefield.


In his leisure time, Kenneth found joy in his hobbies and interests, particularly in music, trains, and fishing. These passions brought him solace and moments of relaxation that he cherished.


He was beloved by his family, especially his grandchildren, who adored him for being super, great, and fun. Kenneth's presence brought warmth and happiness to those around him, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.


Kenneth is survived by his children, Kathy (David) Needles, Larry (Krista) Culwell, Tina (Patrick) Frye, along with his grandchildren Kyle, Bryant, Casey, Lacey, Patricia, Brooklyn, Owen, and great grandchildren Noah, Jaxton, Sophia, Violet, Dahlia, Liam, Justin, Atlas, Nolan, and Dean. He is also survived by his brothers Paul Culwell, David Culwell, Leonard Culwell, Ben Culwell, Chris Culwell, and sisters Anna Gaskins, Elizabeth Ricketts, and Marsena King.


Kenneth is preceded in death by his father LT Culwell, mother Magdaline (Hay) Culwell, wife Wanda (Hughes) Culwell, and sister Eileene Fragmin.


A Visitation will be held on August 14, 2024, at 10:00 AM followed by a Graveside Service at 11:00 AM at the Grand Prairie Cemetery in Marion, OH. The services will be a time to honor and remember the life of Kenneth Culwell, a man who touched the hearts of many and will be dearly missed.
