John Robert Vanway 78 of Marion, passed away Tuesday July 27, 2021 at home after a battle with COPD. John was the only child of John Russell and Elizabeth Theresa (O'Farrell) Vanway and was born in Glouster Ohio April 4th 1943.
John graduated from New Bloomington high School in 1961. During high school he played on the boys junior varsity and varsity basketball teams. After high school John was drafted into the US Army and did his tour in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969 . John then worked and retired from the Marion Power Shovel and was also a Millwright working mostly at the Honda plant in Marysville. John love going down home to Perry county to do his turkey, deer, and grouse hunting with his lady friend and life partner Joanne.
John is preceded in death by his father and mother John (Vanny) and Elizabeth (Lizzy) Vanway, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is survived by daughter Theresa Hammons (John Guesman), two grandsons Levi (Jenny) Vanway and Waylon (Kristy) James and four great-grandchildren JayLynn, StryKer, Opie, Jude and one on the way.
