John R. Cellar age 66 of Caledonia, passed away at Marion General Hospital on October 1, 2021. He was born on July 27, 1955 in Marion, Ohio to the late Harry and Betty (Morris) Cellar.
John started his career at the age of 13 where he worked at Walston Motors. He was employed there for many years and formed a good friendship with Jim and his family. He was a volunteer firefighter for Pleasant Township in the early 80’s. John also worked for Marion Bronze and Blank’s Agri-Service, Inc. He later worked for Autozone where he eventually retired.
He was a very hard worker and didn’t have much free time but when he did he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. One of his favorite activities was antiquing with his best friend John Murphy. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. John was known for his great sense of humor and he always made time to talk or listen to anyone in need. He also enjoyed spending time just hanging out with his son in law whom he was very close to.
John is survived by his daughter Amanda (Shane) Chapman, his son John R. Cellar II, grandchildren Emiley Shuster, Jessica Chapman, Madilynn Chapman, Alexis Chapman, and Mason Baker, 1 brother, 2 sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews including his nephew Jake ( Amy) Cellar who he thought of more as a son. Per John’s request there will be no viewing or funeral service.
