John Cantrell Jr.

December 24, 1961 — August 3, 2024

John Jr. Cantrell born December 24, 1961 to John and Maude (Crace) Cantrell Marion, Ohio passed away peacefully at Riverside Methodist hospital on August 3rd, following a month long battle after suffering a stroke. He was loved deeply by all of his friends and family! He loved his children endlessly and was so excited to watch Abby dance in her most recent dance competitions! He loved watching Michigan and San Francisco 49ers football with his boys Cody and Oakley! He loved stopping to pester Brooke while she was at work at the drive through and dropping by to wrestle with his grand babies! He was proud of all of their accomplishments and liked to brag to his family about them. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends going to cookouts and family gatherings for the holidays! He was the entertainment! Music was the doorway to his soul! He loved Lynard Skynyrd, Rolling Stones, classic rock and country! He loved going to visit his niece Amber (Puddle Jumper) and Dink, just to sit outside and relax and sometimes score a warm brownie and some leftovers to take back home. Sometimes a random pop in for lunch when he was working close by, he always knew she would feed him! Then stopped by Booty and Penny's on the way home! He was “Uncle Johnny” to so many, even if he wasn't really their uncle! The jack of all trades and master of none. If anyone ever needed anything done that they were afraid to do, just call Uncle Johnny and he would get the job done! He would do anything for anyone! Literally ANYTHING! He was fearless and brave or just kinda crazy (probably more so the crazy part)! He had funny nicknames for everyone and there was never a dull moment as long as he was around!

Johnny was proceeded in death by his mother and father John and Maude Cantrell, brothers Tom and Steve Cantrell, sister Judy Shappard, nephew Brandon Cantrell.

He is survived by his favorite sister and brother in law Penny and Booty (Allen) Rinbolt, brothers Bill and Rick Cantrell. John is also survived by his loving children John Cody Alan Cantrell and wife Alexis Cantrell, Oakley Ray James Cantrell and Trinity, Abbigail Dawn Cantrell and Brooke Ashley Dotson. Along with his 3 grandchildren Caiden, Bayleigh and Gavin. As mentioned above he had numerous nieces and nephews who all thought he was a living legend! Johnny’s legendary memories will proceed him for many generations to come and I'm sure 30 years from now there will still be “Uncle Johnny” stories!

A special thank you to his niece Holly who was his personal nurse during his time at Riverside ensuring he got the best care possible while he was there!

The family will celebrate John’s life at the American Legion Post 584 142 Olney Ave. Marion, OH 43302 on Thursday August 8. 2024 from 1pm-4pm.
