Joe E. Stephens

December 16, 1947 — August 19, 2020

Joe E. Stephens age 72, of Marion, died August 19, 2020 at home with his loved ones by his side.

Joe was born Dec 16, 1947 in Hueytown, KY to the late Dave and Mary (Slone) Stephens.  Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brothers Denver, Tom, Bill and Ron and sisters Geneva, Mildred Faye and Avelean.

Joe is survived by his wife Pamela and sons Joshua (Jesse) Bryant and Joey (Mary) Stephens, stepdaughter Angela Napier (Brian), four grandchildren Fallyn. Cooper, Malibu and Tony and one great grandchild and his best buddy Zane, his brother Wayne (Rita) Stephens, and sisters Barb(Ace) Keel, Callie Conrad and Sue (Frank) Fahl, sisters-in-law Karen Stephens and Patty Beal, and many nieces and nephews.

For many years Joe operated gas stations and worked on cars around Big Island and Brush Ridge. That was one of his true passions.  He retired however from Whirlpool where he was a tow motor driver for over 25 years. Joe loved to be outside either working in his yard or in his garage working on cars. His greatest love was his children and grandchildren.  He enjoyed watching as he taught them about cars, fishing and gardening.  He loved anything country and often listened to the old country songs of George Jones, Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash.
It wasn't unusual for his wife and him to start off on a drive around Marion and end up in Kentucky or Tennessee.  Joe and Pam had been together 25 years and married in 2001.  In their later years they enjoyed spending time together and with their family.

The family would like to thank Grace Hospice especially his nurse for all the wonderful care she gave him. Also his nephew Greg Stephens for all the help back and forth to doctor appointments before hospice and Dave,Stella and Cory Stephens for all the support and time Dave spent sharing memories.  Jesse thank you for all your help you are a God send. Of course to his son Josh for all the care and love he gave to his dad and best friend.
A private and quiet man Joe requested no funeral and wanted his ashes to be scattered in Kentucky.
