Jack Stanley Van Dyke of Marengo, age 80 passed away at home on November 23, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and the tender care of Tranquility Hospice. Jack was born to the late Earl E Van Dyke and Josephine G Stout on September 29, 1944 in Columbus Ohio. Jack’s father Earl passed at a young age and he was raised by Russell and Josephine Stout. Jack is preceded in death by his parent’s; sister Josephine “Jody” Wolverton, brother Robert Van Dyke and great-grandson Owen.
Jack is survived by his wife of 59 years Leontine (Ray) Van Dyke, they were married April 17, 1965; children Ronda (Ron) Hess, Michael (Angela) Van Dyke and Kevin Van Dyke; grandchildren, Ryan Van Dyke, Erin (Gill) D’Avanzo, Donna (Brent) Laughman, Amanda Briggs (Beau Foreman), Keara (Brett) Latham, Kylee Van Dyke (Devon Wynkoop); great-children, Leora, Bella, Hayden, Kyla, Sean, Grayson, Landon, Barrett, Emmett and Easton, as well as several nieces.
Jack graduated from Linden McKinley Highschool class of ’63. He worked most of his life as a Sheet Metal Fabricator and retired from Accurate Fabrication. He was a member of the Ohio Valley Dwarf Car Association (OVDCA) and was a member of the National and Local Sheet Metal Union 98. As a young man Jack built and raced go-carts, later on in life he found a passion for showing Haflingers with the Morrow County Draft Horse association at the Morrow County Fair for several years. He then became involved with building a dwarf car and truck along with his Friend Wayne Fitzpatrick who drove the car/truck. Jack was an avid OSU Buckeyes fan and rarely missed a game. Jack took great pride in having a very pristine lawn. The family will have a Celebration of Life service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, friends may send memorial contributions in honor of Jack to St. Jude’s, the Shriner’s or Tranquility Hospice of Delaware Ohio.
