Harriet (Skeet) Sprague

April 24, 1931 — March 2, 2016

Harriet “Skeet” Sprague age 84 of LaRue, went to be with the Lord, March 2, 2016 while peacefully convalescing at Harding Pointe, Marion. She was born April 24th 1931 in Clay County Florida to Riley and Mildred Kinnear. Skeet was one of three children; she was preceded in death by her brother Leland and is survived by her brother Jay (Sherry) Kinnear of Green Cove Springs Florida. In addition she is also survived by her dear sister in law, Sylvia Kinnear, of Green Cove Springs Florida.

She is also survived by her five children, Candi (Cliff) Sprague, Jacksonville, Florida; Jim (Mary) Sprague, Galion, Ohio; Chris (Marsha) Sprague, Crestline, Ohio; Beth (Tony) Johnson, Richwood, Ohio; Scott (Nancy) Sprague, Jacksonville, Florida and numerous Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

She was married on September 15, 1949 to the love of her life Donald Sprague. He preceded her in death in 2012. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor. She graduated in 1949 from Mt. Victory High School where she was the Valedictorian of her class.

Skeet’s last years on this earth were a struggle as she dealt with the onslaught of a disease she did not understand and could not control. Like many folks, she chose to ignore it, but unfortunately it did not reciprocate. It continued to consume her and slowly took the person away we all loved. Before she slipped away to this condition, she had many passions.

She loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener and enjoying canning the fruits of her labor. She also loved raising flowers and exotic plants and would bring plants from Florida on her trips back and forth to her home state. She and Don loved to travel and in their retirement years saw every state in the country except Hawaii. She had a love of history and a love of family history and genealogy and spent countless hours tracking down long lost family. A part of her will survive in each of her children as she instilled some of her life’s passions in each of her children.

A memorial service will be held in the future for friends and family. Condolences and remembrances may be expressed at www.CremationServicesOfOhio.com .
