Harold Robert Blakeslee, 81 of Galion went to be with the Lord and his beloved wife, of 54 years, on Saturday February 4, 2023 at the Good Shepherd Home in Ashland following an extended illness. Harold was born September 20, 1941 in Elyria, OH to the late Harold M. and Mary Jane (McGuire) Blakeslee. He was married to the love of his life for 54 years Blanche who preceded him in death.
Harold is survived by daughter Patricia "Trish" (Matthew) Petras of Galion; grandson Alex Matthew (Whitney Nichole) Petras; great grandchildren Mya and Tate Petras; sisters Susan (Ronald) Nagy of Carlisle Twp., Nancy (Harry) Turner of Elyria, Joyce Clark of LeGrange, and Joan (Steve) Burdett of North Ridgeville; brother John (Claudia) Blakeslee of Carlisle Twp.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Harold graduated from Elyria Catholic High School and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army beginning in December of 1965 until his discharge in December of 1969. He was employed at Galion Amco for 30 years and finished his career at Covert Manufacturing where he was a machinist. Harold was happiest when he was fishing, hunting, or gardening. Most of all he loved and enjoyed his family.
According to his daughter; his life, influence, compassion, and his love will always be linked to his family. They take great comfort in knowing that Harold is no longer in pain and is now with the love of his life. Harold will forever hold a special place in his family's heart.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday February 11, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Grace Point Church, 683 Portland Way N, Galion with Rev. Paul Walter officiating. The family will receive friends at the Church on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. The family will also be hosting a time of fellowship following the service in which the public is invited. Memorial contributions may be made to the family and they will be sending them to his favorite charity.
