Grace L. Johnson

Gracie L. Johnson of Marion lived a blessed and fulfilled life of 72 years. On Thursday April 23, 2020, Gracie entered her eternal home peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Gracie was born March 20, 1948 in Meigs County, the daughter of the late Earl Layman and Mary (Hitt) Layman who survives in Delaware, OH, as well as one brother, Earl Jr. (Brenda) Layman of Delaware. Gracie graduated in 1966 from Delaware Hayes High School and was in the first graduating class of vocational training at Willis, as a beautician. Gracie started her career in Juvenile Corrections in Rathbone, OH, but later found her passion while working at Marca in Marion, OH. She retired in 2003, and started her new journey helping to raise her three beloved grandchildren. Left to cherish her memories are daughter Dawn (Glenn) Gamble of Marion, as well as her grandchildren William Creighton, Rachel Creighton, Elizabeth Creighton, and Charlie Gamble.

Gracie was a lover of the outdoors. She enjoyed fishing, camping, bird watching and being surrounded by flowers, trees and nature. She was a devout Christian, steadfast in her faith in Jesus Christ. She had the heart of a patriot. Her family will remember her as a hardworking, beautiful, woman with a heart of gold. She was an amazing daughter, mother, grandmother and friend.
