Geraldine I. Johnson age 91 of Marion, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday Aug. 20, 2023. She was born on Dec. 23, 1932 in Ashland, OH to Jessie A. Perkins and Della (Dague) Perkins. Geraldine married Ira D. Johnson and he preceded her in death.

Surviving are three sons: Mark Johnson of Marion, Douglas (Judy) Johnson of Wichita, KS, Brian (Jamie) Johnson of New Bloomington, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, brother, and three sisters. She was preceded in death by a daughter Leann Johnson, parents, three brothers and one sister.

She retired from New Bloomington Post Office. Geraldine was mayor of New Bloomington for 15 years and served on the village counsel for 18 years. She enjoyed reading, puzzles and crafts. Geraldine was fond of squirrels and birds and loved to feed them.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on August 25, 2023 at 10am in LaRue Cemetery, LaRue, OH. A catholic graveside service will take place at11am in LaRue Cemetery with Father Ed Shikina officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church 251 N. Main St. Marion, OH 43302 in Geraldine’s name. Online condolences may be sent to www.cremationservicesofohio.com
