Gary E. Holback, 73 of Marion passed away on Friday March 10, 2017 at his home. Gary was born September 20, 1943 in Marion to the late Gilbert Edward and Mary Del (Maze) Holback. He was married August 9, 1986 to Gayle (Thornton) Holback who survives. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by sister Suzie Moore and Brother Johnny Holback.
Gary is also survived by children Todd E. (Luetta) of FL; Amy R. (Ed) Santana of TN; and Gary R. (Chandra) of PA; grandchildren Natalie, Carmen, Mariah, Rachel, Danielle, Mikaila, Justin, and Heather; great grandchildren Kathryn, Jaxon, Eli, Hope, and Faith; step children Randy (Jen) Boehm, Columbus and Jenny Boehm of CA; step grandchildren Roy, Katie, and Brianna; and brother Michael (Yogi) and Larry Holback both of Marion.
Gary was a lifetime resident of Marion and for many years was a builder and masonry contractor. In his later years Gary did Home Radon Inspections. He was a graduate of Mt. Vernon Academy and received an Industrial Arts Degree from Andrews University in MI. Gary taught Masonry at Tri Rivers for a few years.
Gary enjoyed flying and was a licensed pilot and member of the Glider Club in Marion. He also was very musically inclined and enjoyed playing the guitar. Gary made some of his own instruments. In addition, Gary was the director of the Village Lighthouse Church, established by Seventh-day Adventists, in Croton, Ohio since 2002.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday April 9 at 3 PM in the Marion Seventh Day Adventist Church, 540 Windsor Avenue with Pastor Kent Millard officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be in the form of contributions to the Ohio Health Hospice.
