Fred Edward Ruhl

Fred Edward Ruhl age 78 of Marion passed at Marion General Hospital on February 18, 2022 and was welcomed into God’s loving care. He was born on October 15, 1943, in Marion to Henry S. and Hazel Jean (Shepard) Ruhl. He married Linda Sue (Thomas) Ruhl on December 26, 1965, and she survives in Marion.

Fred is survived by brother Rodney (Rick) S. Ruhl, sisters Sue Lynn Olsen (Robert), Judy Kay Renfrew (Michael), nieces Hazel Dawn Ruhl/Matt Crowley, Jennifer McGowan (Troy), nephews Brian Olsen, Kevin (Audrey)Olsen, Shawn Renfrew, great nieces Angelina and Emma Olsen, great nieces and nephew Zoe, Logan & Luke McGowan, and brother & sister-in-law Lou & Nancy Himmer, nieces Kristie (Mike) Knox and Tamara (Matt) Erick, great nieces Brianna (Dayne) Knox-Wall, Alexa Knox and Malea Erick and great nephews Luke Knox and Noah Erick, Cory (Bailey) Nichols who was like a Son, and numerous cousins. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law Richard W. & Leatha L. Thomas and great niece Sofia Grace Olsen and great nephew Quinten James Olsen.

Fred graduated from Marion Harding High School and served in the US Navy 1964-1970. He was in retail sales and a manufacturing representative for sporting goods, watercrafts, and construction equipment as well as the owner of F&L Home and Garden.

Fred was an avid deer, turkey, and duck hunter. His favorite time was sitting in his tree stand with his bow or gun listening to nature “wake up”. He was a member of Richland Road Church of Christ as well as the NRA, National Wild Turkey Federation, Past Co-Chairman of the local chapter, Heart of Ohio Strutters and Past Treasurer for the State of Ohio NWTF.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held Saturday March 5, 2022, with visitation from 10:30am-11:30 am at the Richland Road of Christ, and the service starting at 11:30am with Pastor Russell Howard officiating. A luncheon will be served in the Fellowship Hall following the service.
