Frances was the sixth child in a family that would grow to 14 kids. She moved from New Boston, where she was born, to Maryland so that her father could work in the shipyards. The next move was too Mobile, AL where the family would stay for many years. Life was hard in those days and there was still the threat of war, so all the kids wore dog tags and knew where the bomb shelters were located.
Some funny stories that Frances told were like taking grandma’s washing machine lid and using it to slide down the hill, grandma was not impressed. Back then milk was delivered in bottles and when it was really cold out the cream would rise to the top-yummy cream popsicles. Grandma would tan the kids hide because she had planned on using that cream to make butter.
Frances was a licensed practical nurse which she received certification from Tri-Rivers and she worked at various nursing facilities. Frances enjoyed bowling, camping, gardening, canning, doing crafts with the kids, and Bingo.
