Frances Jean Glaze

January 21, 1939 — May 15, 2023

Frances Jean Glaze, 84 of Caledonia, OH passed away on Monday May 15, 2023, at home following a 4-month illness. Frances was born January 21, 1939, in New Boston, OH to the late Martin “Did” Soloman and Margaret Roxanne “Meg” (Henry) Stiltner. She was married June 22, 1957, to Paul Glaze who preceded her in death on March 9, 1999. And daughter Lois Ann, born September 2, 1958. Passed on January 21, 1960. Frances was also preceded in death by siblings Charles Ward Stiltner, Stanley Carl Stiltner, Helen Louis Carley, Robert Stiltner, Rosalie McCaffery, Wanda Kaye Foster, Carlotta Faye Caballero, Martin-Teddy Stiltner, Nora Eileen Nelson, Patricia Ann (David) Powers, and Cecil Ray Stiltner.
Frances is survived by children Patrick (Tegan) Glaze of Caledonia, Deborah Warwick of Marion, and Paula Glaze and partner Laura Scalzo of Toledo; grandchildren Varrick, Jason, Sigourney, and Noah; great grandson Drew; sister Bonnie (Ron) Beach; brother Ronnie (Marilyn) Stiltner; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Frances was the sixth child in a family that would grow to 14 kids. She moved from New Boston, where she was born, to Maryland so that her father could work in the shipyards. The next move was too Mobile, AL where the family would stay for many years. Life was hard in those days and there was still the threat of war, so all the kids wore dog tags and knew where the bomb shelters were located.
Some funny stories that Frances told were like taking grandma’s washing machine lid and using it to slide down the hill, grandma was not impressed. Back then milk was delivered in bottles and when it was really cold out the cream would rise to the top-yummy cream popsicles. Grandma would tan the kids hide because she had planned on using that cream to make butter.
Frances was a licensed practical nurse which she received certification from Tri-Rivers and she worked at various nursing facilities. Frances enjoyed bowling, camping, gardening, canning, doing crafts with the kids, and Bingo.
