Forrest D. (Doug) Freeman, 74 of Marion passed away on Saturday May 13, 2017 at Marion General Hospital. Forrest was born December 5, 1942 in Lackey, KY to the late Virgil and Bessie (Lockwood) Freeman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Phil and Denny Barker as well as sister Barb and two grandchildren.
Doug is survived by children; Michael (Shelly) Freeman of Marion; Steven (Lori) Freeman of Marion; Travis Freeman of Portsmouth, OH; Amy (Scott) Langley, of Franklin, TN; and Tracey Hogan of Marysville, OH; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brothers James (Barb) Freeman of Marion; Robert (Karen) Freeman of Marion; John Freeman, Marion; and Paul (Mary) Freeman of Vermillion; Kenneth Barker and Don (Linda) Barker both of Ashland, KY; sister Lorretta (Paul) Clark of Lorain as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Doug retired from the Erie Lackawanna Railroad and following retirement worked for All Service Plumbing and Heating in Marion. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and lived in Marion for the past 45 years and enjoyed fishing, singing, whistling, and playing spoons.
A Celebration of Doug’s Life will be held on Sunday May 21 from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm in the New Bloomington Fire Dept.Hall. The family suggests that friends and family bring a covered dish for the Celebration. Expressions of sympathy can be left at
