Marion

Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Monnette, age 69, passed away at Marion General Hospital with her family by her side September 19, 2024. Betty was born to the late Helen Wagner Barr in Marion Ohio, July 9, 1955. Betty married the love of her life and best friend Dennis Monnette on December 2, 1976. Betty is preceded in death by her mother; brother, Bob Barr; sister, Sue Schrake; brother-in-law’s, Ed Schrake and Tank Millisor; mother-in-law, Gladys Monnette.

Betty is survived by her husband of 47 years, whom she devoted herself to wholeheartedly, Dennis Monnette; children, John (Lori) Monnette, Tracie (Scott) Isler, Todd (Pam) Monnette, and Tami Monnette; grandchildren, Layla Monnette, Chase Monnette, Tyler Monnette, Logan Isler, Gracelyn Isler, Leigha Monnette, Paige (Kyle) Thompson, Shaylah (Allen) Monnette, and Olivia (Bryant) Rudd; siblings, Kathy Nicolosi, Jane Millisor, and Nancy Monnette; sister in law, Peanut Barr; as well as several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Betty assisted Dennis on the farm in the early years of their marriage, she was a stay-at-home mom once she had children, then she worked as a Care Assistant at Kingston Residence of Marion once the children moved out. She was involved in the Mother’s Club, was a 4-H Advisor, and ran the Domestic Building during the Marion Co. Fair for several years while Dennis served as President of the Marion County Fair Board.

Betty kept busy around the house with her flower garden, she loved all types of flowers. Her and Dennis would regularly attend sporting events to support their grandchildren. Betty was very proud of her family and would always keep a picture of her children and grandchildren anywhere she went. They enjoyed camping trips together, visiting long-time friends Marty and Joyce Schwartz at the lakes, going on crazy adventures with her sisters and their ornery stories, laughing and sharing her childhood memories growing up with 4 siblings, and enjoyed crafting. She would proclaim that she was Elvis Presley’s #1 fan; she was a light to this world and will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
