Dianna Jean Luke , age 77, went home to be with the Lord on September 28, 2018. She was born in Marion, Ohio on September 8, 1941. She is the daughter of Freda V. Carpenter (Rush) of Marion, Ohio and Dale Evans. In her childhood years, Dianna lived in Espyville, Ohio, where she was nurtured by her grandparents Fred and Flora (Schlect) Rush. Dianna later moved to Marion, Ohio where she graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1959. She began her working career with the Marion Star as the clerk of records. She later worked at May Jeweler with Jerry Davis, owner. In 1960, Dianna met the love of her life Donald L. Luke. Prior to Donald's proposal of marriage, Jerry Davis pulled Donald aside and said, "I want to show you the most perfect engagement ring for Dianna." On February 19, 1961, they united in marriage and began their life together.
Soon after, they started their family with three beautiful and wonderful daughters. Terri L. Martin (Rick), Marion, Tracy A. Graham, Marion, Janette R. King (Thomas"TJ"), Marion Mom was always in our corner loving us, nurturing us and protecting us. She never wanted to see her girls hurt.. ...she tried her best, but you never know what life is going to bring.
In 1965, she began attending the Marion First Church of the Nazarene with her beloved husband Donald. From that point on life was never the same. She began serving the Lord in many capacities; member of the congregation, board member, bible-school teacher, committee member, choir member, youth leader, staff member and volunteer. Over the years Dianna has worked in many positions in the Marion community; the old Kresge as a department clerk and waitress, Marion Community Hospital, Dr. James Lastraps, Dr. Ralph Lyon, Dr. Nasseer Chaudrey, Dr. Bharmota and Marion General Hospital where she retired from in 2001.
She always loved her girls, but when the grandchildren came into her life, there was nothing as important as each one of them. Devin Severns (Danielle), Luke Severns (Rachel), Natalie Graham Colton (Jerry), Travis Graham (Krissy), Haleigh Billups, RaeAnna King, Jennifer Martin Stamolis (David), Chris Martin (Katie). Great Grandchildren: Owen and Nora Severns, Lauren Gruber, Abbie Jackson, Brenden Martin, Ella and Tess Stamolis, Dillion and Raeah Colton. She has been their babysitter, house sitter, dog sitter, taxi driver, cook, cheerleader and their biggest FAN! You have listened to us, advised us, prayed for us and given each one of us the "What for" when needed. When life got tough, you were always there for us. Forrest Gump once said, "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get". You have been blessed but most of all, we are blessed to have had you in our life.
Dianna also leaves behind two brothers and one sister: Fred (Sharon) Evans, George (Ruth) Carpenter Jr., Dawnzee D'Angelo along with many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents Dale Evans (Father), Freda V. Carpenter (Mother), George Carpenter Sr. (Step-father).
You can express your condolences and celebrate Dianna's life on October 7, from 4-6 pm at the Marion First Church of the Nazarene — Gathering Place, 233 W. Church St., Marion, OH 43302 Memorial contributions may be made in Dianna's name to the Marion First Church of the Nazarene.
