Deane Allen McCurdy Sr. age 56 of Marion, died at Marion General Hospital on Nov. 18, 2021, due to a short fight with Covid 19 after battling COPD for many years. He was born on Sept. 2, 1965 in Marion to Phillis J. (Carnell) McCurdy. He had been married to Frida Thien for 13 years. He is survived by his children who are his pride and Joy Debb (Dewey) Smith, a son Dean McCurdy Jr. and a step-daughter Taylor Binau, grandchildren Sammy Morgan, Kylee Sardina, Issaac Morgan, Kobain Smith, Kenzleigh Smith, who he always loved spending time with especially their trips to Hong Kong Buffet. He is also survived by a brother Bill McCurdy and a sister Kay Freshwater. He is preceded in death by a brother Kenny McCurdy, childhood friend Ernie Gwinner.
He had worked at Marion Steel for many years. Deane had a love for fast cars, Harley Davidson, Pepsi, Hershey Chocolate bars, Butterscotch hard candy, WWE Wrestling, and the Raiders. He was an avid collector of his favorite things. He was also best known to his friends and family as Deano. He was a loving father, uncle, and brother who always put the needs of others before his. After all life had thrown at him, he still welcomed friends and family with a smile, a laugh and a positive outlook. He will be greatly missed by all.
