David A Hollenbach

David A,(Dave) Hollenbach, 79, died in the presence of his family, at Marion General Hospital May 12, 2024.
Dave was born January 14,1945. He attended Mark Street Elementary School, Taft Jr High School and graduated from Marion Harding School in 1963.
He worked as an architectural draftsman for two years before being drafted in the Army Corp of Engineers in 1965, serving 14 months in South Korea. After an honorable discharge he was employed at Marion Power Shovel Company as a Tech Illustrator, Writer, and Communications Specialist. He was the designer of the Marion County Sesquicentennial Medallion in 1972. It was at the Shovel where he met his loving wife, Jean Chard. They married in 1970, and had two children, John David Hollenbach and Lorri Jean Hollenbach. Dave and Jean celebrated 54 years together this past March.
Dave also was a freelance illustrator, offering business to business advertising services for many years, He was the owner and operator of ADMAN Printing in Marion.
Dave was a member of the Grand Prairie Baptist Church.
Dave accomplished many things throughout his life, but what he did best was being a dad. He taught many life lessons and gave his children endless words of wisdom. His smile and sense of humor were infectious. Most importantly he cared deeply for his family, never missing a ball game, or an opportunity to spend time with his kids, in whatever activities they were involved in.
Dave is preceded in death by his mother Evelyn and father, Lewis, and his son, John David Hollenbach, brother in laws Delbert Bowman, Ronald RIngle, David Draudt, nephews Ed Bowman and Cap Ringle, great nephew Jeb Bowman, brother-in-law Charles Walker, brother in law Harold Holt, in laws Esther and Bill Chard.
Dave is survived by his loving wife Jean Hollenbach, daughter Lorri Hollenbach Ross and son in law, Matt Ross, three grandsons, Morgan ”Chuck” Hollenbach (Sabrina) of Mansfield, Richard Hollenbach (Shauna) of Marion, Caleb Ross (Michaela) of North Carolina, and Great granddaughter Bella of Mansfield, four siblings: Lois Bowman , Susan Woolum (Don), Ruth Ringle, and Pam Draudt, brother in law Bill Chard (Sandy) of Marion, sister in law Jody Walker of Marion, sister in law Janice Holt of Marion, many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, and lifelong party buddy, Rick Toms of Houston Texas.
Dave had four -hole in 1’s.
The family will receive friends on Saturday May 18th from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon at the Grand Prairie Baptist Church, 4893 Marion-Upper Sandusky Rd. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 noon with a dinner to follow for family and friends. The family suggests memorials be in the form of contributions to the Grand Prairie Baptist Church. Affordable Cremation Services of Ohio is assisting the family with arrangements.
