Galion

With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Darrell Wayne Spencer on February, 2, 2025, at the age of 62. Born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on July 16, 1962, to the late Jane Huckstep and Robert Spencer.

He was raised in Vina, Alabama and moved to Mount Gilead in 1973. Darrell graduated from Mount Gilead High School class of 1980. He met the love of his life Nancy Spencer Bastin and soon married on August 21, 1981. They made a life of love or their two children, but later divorced in August of 2000.

Darrell worked at J.G. Clark and transferred to Field Container where he worked for 20 years. As a loving father he was always present, never missing a special event or milestone in his children's lives. His unwavering support and encouragement will be deeply missed. His kind soul, sweetness, and thoughtfulness touched all those around him.

Dancing Darrell loved listening to music and having a good time. He was a fan of the Cleveland Browns for 50 years. There was hope for Super Bowl appearances, but later turned into a must watch to see the predictable setbacks that would cause them a loss.

Darrell is survived by son Waylon Spencer, daughter Becky (Steve) Strobel, grandchildren: Mahaila Strobel, Tucker Strobel, and Walker Strobel, sister Carla Spencer, nieces: Brittany and Lindy, brother Marty Wertz, niece Lachelle, niece and nephew: April and Timmy, special friend Gary Boothe, Mike and Norma Sherman, Kiley Kinsey, and Connie Gledhill. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Mike Spencer, and sister Lesa Spencer.

A Celebration of Life Party will be held at the Bowstring Bar and Grill, formerly known as the Wet Spot, on February 22, 2025, at 5 pm.
