Darlene K. Miley, 63 of Marion passed away on Tuesday February 7, 2017 at home following a courageous 8 month battle with cancer. Darlene was born January 5, 1954 in Marion to the late Donald and Edith (Kightlinger) Hawk. She was married July 25, 1987 to Gary Miley who survives.
Darlene is also survived by children Cory (Ashlee) Ward, twin daughters Lindsay (Jeremy) Hutchinson and Farin Miley; grandchildren Grant, Averey, Alexis, Saige, Natalie, and Weston; brother Douglas Hawk; sister Becky (Dan) Gorenflo; and nephew Jeff (Sarah) Gorenflo and their daughter Rylee. Darlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.
Darlene was baptized as an infant at the First Presbyterian Church in Marion and attended there as a young adult. She remained faithful throughout life to God and Jesus Christ. Darlene graduated from Harding High School in 1972 and began her 42 ½ year career as a nurse’s aide in October of 1973. She attended Marion General Hospital School of Practical Nursing and graduated in 1976 becoming licensed and working at Marion General Hospital I.C.U. and Transition step down.
In 1983 Darlene became part of the Cardiovascular staff and her interests turned to other areas. She was fortunate to be able to complete an Associate Degree Program in Electroencephalography, graduating in 2001 from California College of Health Sciences in San Diego. She went on to pass the registry in 2002 earning the credentials of REEGT. Darlene became interested in sleep medicine and self- studied to pass the registry in sleep technology, earning the credentials of RPSGT in 2004. Darlene retired in 2015 from the Marion Area Health Center Sleep Lab.
Darlene enjoyed her flower gardening, going to the ocean, and redecorating. She loved her cats and was very artistic.
A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday February 11, 2017 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm in the First Church of the Nazarene, 233 W. Church Street, Marion. The family suggests memorials be in the form of contributions to the Marion Co. Humane Society or the Marion General Hospice. Affordable Cremation Services of Ohio, 1701 Marion Williamsport Rd. is assisting the family with arrangements
