Dale Fredrick “Toad” Walter, age 79 passed away on Thursday January 2, 2020 at DeWolfe Place.
He was born on November 28, 1940 in Marion to the late James Robert and Reda Mae (Sessler) Walter. He graduated in 1958 from Marion Harding High School. After graduation he served in the U.S. Army.
Dale was an avid sports fan and especially loved his Ohio State Buckeyes. He was a baseball card collector and loved the game. His favorite holiday was Christmas. He found much joy in buying gifts for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his significant other of 27 years, Sandy Thaw, daughter Catherine (Rick) Keeran, son Joel Walter, daughters Julie Sanner, Lisa Arthur, Kari Sanner, Lori (Tim) Gafjen, Jill Sanner, daughter Dawn Boyd. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Cathy Copeland and Carole Gibson and an aunt Jean Thomas. He was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. They will all miss their Peepaw.
There will be a Celebration of Dale's Life on Saturday January 11, 2020 at the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge, 1300 Delaware Ave Marion, OH (located in the Servex Canter) from 2pm to 6pm. In his honor, please wear your Ohio State Buckeye attire as we are sure this is what he would have wanted. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Marion Township Fire Department Local 2134 because they were a tremendous support to him.
