Clyde B. Dawson age 70, of Marion slipped from the loving hands of his family into the loving hands of God after an extended illness, on Sat. Apr.10, 2021 at Marion General Hospital. Clyde was born on Apr. 29, 1950 in Hobbs, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Dawson and his mother Suellen Dawson Cardwell. Clyde was a 1968 graduate of Harding High School and had been employed b y the Whirlpool Corp. and Grindel Ammunition.
Clyde was an avid car enthusiast and owned several hot rods over the years. He was most passionate about his purple 1939 Ford Coupe and spent the last years of his life sharing it with anyone who would take the trip to his garage to look and talk about it. He loved spending weekends at car shows where his friends and co-workers referred to him as “Squirrel”, his life long nickname. Clyde loved to joke around and would stop at nothing to get a good laugh. He also enjoyed supporting his favorite football team the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Clyde met his wife, Brenda while cruising the loop in 1969 and they married Oct. 17, 1970. They spent 50 years building a life and beautiful family together.
Clyde will be cherished by his loving wife Brenda, his son Paul (Stephanie) Dawson, granddaughters Brenna Dawson, Brizzy McQuistion and Hannah McQuistion and brother Ralph (Joyce) Nelson. He will also be missed by his sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
The family will honor Clyde with a celebration of life at a later date.
