Chris lived his life to the fullest, he was a compassionate, glorified soul who loved his family and fishing.
Christopher Gene Neil was born on January 31st 1964 in Columbus, Ohio. He was the Second child of Gene Neil and Sharon Smith. Chris later moved to Marysville, with his mother and Step-father Joe Smith.
Chris attended North Union High School in Richwood, Ohio. Chris was a multi- talented person who was exceedingly capable in seemingly everything. His children admit he was “master of all trades”. Chris went on to work for Memorial Hospital as a maintenance man, and licensed high-pressure steam boiler operator. Chris was HVAC certified and nationally certified as an Emergency response HazMat Technician/ First responder. Over the years, Chris also worked for Nestles, Abbott Labs and performed general construction duties.
Chris had three children, Elizabeth (Aaron) Monroe of Richwood, Kristen (Lucas) Van Way of Richwood, and Joseph Neil of East Liberty. Chris married the love of his life Margaret Neil in August of 2005. Chris gained three step-children Kari (Jason) Lundy, Dwight (Brittany) Preston, and Johnathon Kelley. Chris was proud of his large family and cherished every moment they were all together, especially camping.
Chris was a devoted Grandfather and outdoor enthusiast. He enjoyed fishing, camping, Buckeye football, arrow head hunting, outdoor adventures with his son, Andy Griffith, Ellen DeGeneris, classic rock and country music. Chris was a spiritual man and will forever be fishing with the master of the sea.
Chris is also survived by his mother Sharon Smith, sister Robin (Bill) Westfall of Mechanicsburg, brother John (Christy) Smith of Middleburg, and 8 grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Fall of 2018 at Chris’s favorite campsite. All will be welcome, information will follow. Donations may be made to Kindred Hospice Services.
