Carol Jeanne Adkins

Carol Jeanne Adkins (Mayes), age 81, of New Bloomington, Ohio, passed away at Marion General Hospital on January 18, 2024. Carol was born December 20, 1942, to Eric and Virginia (Crowell) Mayes in Detroit, Michigan. Carol was preceded in death by her father Eric Mayes, mother Virginia Mayes; sister Patty Mayes; brother Danny Foley; sister Virgie Hanson; daughter Elizabeth Burns (Lesa); father-in-law Charles Adkins; and mother-in-law, Francine Adkins.

Carol is survived by her husband Marlin Adkins, daughter Dawne Burns, brother Ron (Patsy) Mayes, sister Shirley Schank, legal guardian to great-grandbabies Genesis Davis and Matthew McCombs Jr, stepdaughters Heather Adkins, Jamie (Jeff) Mullins and Nickole (Wes) Coyandyl; as well as four generations of loved and appreciated grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Carol had a love for all animals and was an avid horse breeder. She was the owner and manager of many Sulky racing teams in her career. She owned Dannie’s Pizza in Marion, Ohio for many years. Carol also had a love for her church and church family.

The Celebration of Life will be held at the Free Masons Masonic Lodge on February 17th, 2024, from 12 to 6. Please bring a covered dish if you are able. The address is 119 W Church St, Marion, OH 43302.
