Benjamin Paul Schurtz, age 70 of Delaware, Ohio, passed away at his residence on January 14, 2017. Benjamin was the son of the late Paul Schurtz and Darlene (Colflesh) Schurtz. Ben was married to his previous wife and friend Angela Cooke.
Mr. Schurtz is survived by three nieces, Debbie Farabee, Angie Levings, and Brittany Miley; four nephews, Chad, Kyle, and Craig Miley, and Matt Ham; one half nephew, Donny Szlass; and four great nephews. Survived by one sister, Judy (Ralph) Miley of Waldo and one half sister, Kay Szlass.
Mr. Schurtz graduated from Buckeye Valley in 1965 and then joined the Army Reserves. He served in the Army from 1966 to 1972. He retired from Division 6 Ohio Department of Transportation as a Superintendent of Traffic Signals. Ben also assisted his father in completing construction at the Sahara Golf Course and Worthington Hills Golf Course. Mr. Schurtz was an avid bowler and billiards player. He loved to golf and enjoyed visiting Myrtle Beach to play.
Ben was an active member in the Delaware community. He is a member of the Belle Point United Methodist Church, the Redmen Lodge, and the Moose Lodge. He is a former member of the Elks Lodge and The Eagles Lodge.
