Arthur E Keirns

September 10, 1922 — October 31, 2016

Arthur E. “Eddie” Keirns, loving son, brother, husband, dad and grandfather passed away on Oct. 31, 2016. He was born in Athens County, Ohio on Sept. 10, 1922 to the late Earnest and Sadie (Rainier) Keirns. He married Gladys L. Fultz on August 6, 1941. They shared 60 years together before she passed away in 2001.

As a teenager, he was employed delivering telegrams in Marion. He also worked at various service
stations in Marion, Galion Iron Works, Engineering Depot in Marion and retired from The Defense Supply Center in Columbus after 25 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War ll.

He and Gladys had 7 children, triplet sons died at birth. Mr. Keirns is survived by his 4 children Ferol (Ken) Hall of Texas, Edwin (Susie) Keirns of Marion, Jan (Jerry) Montee of Texas and Terry (Nancy) Keirns of Texas.

Eddie is also survived by one sister, Eva (Ted) McCleese of Galion, 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by twin grandsons, 2 granddaughters, 2 sisters and 6 brothers.

Eddie was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Marion most of his adult life and a member of the Forward Sunday School Class. He loved Christmas and was the official “gift wrapper” for many years. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. Eddie also loved bowling for many years. He belonged to Free Masons for 50 years.

Thank you to the Kingston staff for making “Fast Eddie” feel loved and at home for the last 2 ½ years. Also Marion General Hospice for their special care the last several months.

Services for Eddie will be held Monday, Nov. 14, 2016 at Trinity Baptist Church, Marion. With calling hours at 10:00 a.m. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. with burial at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. A full Military Grave site Rite will be conducted by Marion Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the Forward Sunday School Class 244 S. Main St. Marion, OH 43302. Affordable Cremation Services of Ohio is in charge of arrangements.
