Anna Kegg Young, 92 of Marion, always one who “loved to go anywhere,” made her final journey from her home on Feb. 11, 2017 with her daughters by her side. She was born Oct. 28, 1924 to the late Elmer and Grace (Northup) Disterdick also at home.
She attended and graduated from Green Camp High School and Marion Business College. During WW II she worked at Fairfield Engineering and made sure to wave at all the troop trains that passed her way. In 1964 she started her career as switchboard operator at Marion General Hospital where she retired after 26 years of services.
Surviving are daughters Brenda McElroy and Karen (Steve) Ward. Step-sons Rocky (Carol) Young and Mark Young (Carol). Also sister-in-law Lillian Disterdick. Grandchildren Stephanie (Tim) Himler, DeMerrill (Brian) Knaul, Rob (Shannon) Bauer, Jeremy Ward (Ruth), Sam (Melody) Norris. Step-grandchildren Erin O'Kanty and Andy Young. Great grandchildren Amanda (Dennis) Allen, Danielle Himler (Kyle), McKenzie Young, Will and Katie Bauer and Geneva Norris. Step-great grandchildren Aiden & Desmond O'Kanty, and Cameron & Grace Young. Great Great grandson Bentley and “soon to arrive” great great granddaughter Ryleigh Allen. Special friends Pat McPherson, Ruth Anderson and Jenny Hedges.
She was a lifetime member of the Green Camp Baptist Church where she often played the piano. She was a charter member of the R.O.G.G. Club and belonged to Green Camp and Pleasant Sr. Centers.
She was preceded in death by husbands Willis (Bud) Young, Graydon Mohr, Robert Kegg and Roger Bowman, brother Lowell Disterdick and dog Casey.
