Lane Hempfield

Lane Hempfield, 59 of Marion, left this world unexpectedly on Thursday February 9th, 2023. Lane was born to Ed and Sandra Hempfield on April 30th, 1963 at Marion General Hospital. He was a life-long resident of Marion and graduate of Marion Harding High School.
Lane was, above all else, a loving and dedicated son, brother, husband, and father. He was an avid sportsman, having participated in high school baseball and football. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. Lane met his wife, Dee, at a horse show in Mt. Gilead, finding many similar interests in common. They would be married on September 20th, 1986. He spent much of his time with his wife field trialing with the Buckeye Brittany Club and other associated clubs, demonstrating his love of dogs and hunting. They both became AKC Licensed Field Trail judges, a title that took them to many states together. Lane and Dee would have one son, Weston, whom they would eventually bring along to these events as a family. When not at work or helping someone, if there was not a ballgame to be watched, he could be found in the barn, tinkering or building bird houses. Lane will be remembered as a devoted family man, always ensuring that birthdays and other special events were observed, making those in his life feel special.
Lane was preceded in death by his father, Ed Hempfield and sister, Jill Days. He is survived by his wife, Dee (Heliman) Hempfield; his son Weston (Tamara) Hempfield; his mother Sandra Hampfield, his sister, Jan (Chris) Gompf and niece and nephew, Lauren (Josh) Nash and Justin Gompf.
The family will be gathering privately to honor Lane's memory in a celebration of life according to his wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Ohio at namiohio.org
